Student volunteering with Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli offers a rewarding way to get involved with your local community while contributing via a recognised program, such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Whether you’re interested in retail or supporting our much-loved Book Fairs, you’ll gain hands-on experience, meet new people and make a real impact.
Who can apply?
Our student volunteering opportunities are available to students who are:
- Completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award, or
- Participating in a school-based volunteering program approved by the Lifeline Retail General Manager
- If you’re unsure whether your program is eligible, we encourage you to get in touch with our team by completing the form below.

Ways you can volunteer
Retail student volunteer
Join one of our Lifeline shops and help create a welcoming space for customers.
You’ll assist with sorting donations, merchandising and customer service, while gaining valuable retail experience and teamwork skills.
Volunteer requirements:
- Available for regular shifts (after school or weekends)
- Comfortable interacting with customers and working in a team
- Willing to learn basic retail tasks (training provided)
Ways you can volunteer
Book Fair student volunteer
Be part of the energy of our much-loved Lifeline Book Fairs.
As a student volunteer, you’ll help set up, assist customers and pack down, while meeting new people and supporting an event that helps fund Lifeline’s vital work in our community.
Volunteer requirements:
- Available during Book Fair periods (including set up and pack down)
- Happy to work in a fast-paced, team environment
- Able to assist with tasks like lifting boxes or restocking tables
