All our counsellors are qualified and accredited professionals who have completed additional training in suicide prevention. They provide trauma-informed counselling, ensuring that care is safe, respectful, and responsive to your needs.

Support for survivors of domestic and family violence
We provide specialised counselling support for survivors of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV).
Our counsellors understand the complex and lasting impacts of DFV and provide trauma-informed, empowering care.
Clients who meet the eligibility criteria for NSW Victim Services can access counselling at Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli through the NSW Victims Support Scheme. Counselling is provided by approved counsellors who are listed on the NSW Domestic and Family Violence Registry and are qualified, experienced health professionals authorised to deliver counselling under the Victims Support Scheme.
How can I access counselling?
Our face-to-face counselling is available to anyone in our community 15 years and older. You can self-refer to our counselling service using the form below, or be referred by a GP, health professional or allied health organisation.
We offer face-to-face counselling in Balgowlah and Mosman, youth counselling in Avalon for people aged 15 to 24, and telehealth counselling via Zoom.
Our counselling services are low cost to help make mental health support more accessible. If you are referred by your GP with a Mental Health Care Plan, sessions may be bulk billed with no out-of-pocket cost.

What can counsellors help with?
Our counsellors can help with a wide range of challenges. As a new client, you’ll be matched with a counsellor with the qualifications, knowledge and experience to support your specific situation. Our counsellors support people experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, grief, loss, relationship or family challenges, major life changes, sleep difficulties, and self-esteem issues. We also provide specialised support for survivors of domestic and family violence.
Do I need a GP referral?
No, you can access our counselling service without a GP referral and self-refer. We do welcome referrals from GPs, health and allied health organisations, and accept mental health care plans.
What happens in a counselling session?
Counselling gives you a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to talk about what’s happening in your life. Your counsellor will work with you to better understand your concerns, explore coping strategies, build resilience and identify practical next steps. If needed, they may also suggest other services or supports that could help.
Who can access face-to-face counselling?
Our counselling service is available to people in our community aged 15 years and over living in the Northern Beaches or Mosman to Kirribilli areas.
How much does counselling cost?

Are counselling sessions confidential?
Yes. Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli counsellors are bound by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia’s code of conduct, just like other counsellors and psychologists and must keep sessions confidential.
