Trauma-informed support for survivors of childhood abuse

The Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse Group is a structured six-week program for adult women who experienced childhood abuse or trauma, including physical, emotional or sexual abuse, or witnessing violence in the home.

Facilitated in a safe and supportive group setting, the program helps participants understand how childhood trauma can affect thoughts, emotions, relationships and behaviour. It also focuses on practical skills for emotional regulation, personal safety, boundaries, self-care and resilience.

What is the adult survivors of childhood abuse group?

This is a closed group program, meaning all participants start and finish the program together. It is psycho-educational and skills-based, with a focus on understanding trauma and building practical tools for everyday life.

The program includes:

  • Six weekly group sessions
  • 6–10 participants per group
  • Facilitation by an experienced female trauma counsellor and support counsellor
  • A structured, supportive and trauma-informed group environment

Who is the program for?

The group is for adult women who, as children, experienced:

  • Physical abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Emotional abuse
  • Witnessing family or domestic violence

A pre-group intake is required to help ensure the program is suitable and supportive for each participant.

What will I learn?

Why should I attend?

Childhood abuse can affect how you manage emotions, cope with stress, relate to others, and care for your physical and mental health.

This program focuses on practical, everyday skills to support your ongoing recovery. In a safe and supportive group environment, you can build tools to help you feel more grounded, manage distress, strengthen boundaries, communicate more clearly and support your overall wellbeing.
